GBA offers skippered charters in the Salish Sea in the Spring and Fall aboard the Compass Rose and in Southeast Alaska in the summer. Charters are available on the deliveries both North to Ketchikan Alaska in the beginning of the summer season and at the end. The passage North will transit the Sunshine Coast up the Inside Passage and will take two weeks. The returning passage will transit the waters on the outside of Vancouver Island (weather permitting) and will also take two weeks. These transit passages are prime one-way trips through some of the most beautiful waters in the Northwest. The warm tidal waters of the inside passage wind through the waters of the Sunshine Coast through Desolation Sound and Blackfish Sound. Weather permitting this and the return passage in the fall offer opportunities to visit the home of the Spirit Bears in the Great Bear National Forest. The returning passage offers an equally rare opportunity to visit the home of the Haida people on the island of Haida Gwaii and see the totem poles and the remains of a society that occupied the island for 8000 years.
